engine stalled, no crank, code 12 crank sensor or something else?

I've got a 2009 Rhino 700 EFI SE that's having some trouble.The engine backfired and stalled, and now it won't crank at all. I heard a relay click, but then it stopped, and there's no voltage at the starter. I'm getting a code 12 which might be a crank sensor issue.The batterey is brand new too. Anyone have other suggestions?

Looks like you're on the right track suspecting the crank sensor Code 12 often points to it, but it can also be a bad starter. The backfire could have caused a sudden jolt that affected it.

On the top of my head, I suggest check the ground connections. A loose or corroded ground can cause all sorts of electrical issues.

Code 12 points to the crank sensor, and with the backfire and no crank, that's probably your issue, even with a new battery, check all grounds and the starter relay wiring, one thing yeah, try jumping the starter directly, if it cranks, then the starter is good and it's likely the sensor or wiring

I've seen a dying battery cause all kinds of electrical haywire and I know you said it's new, but have you checked the voltage on it?

Dont forget to check your ground connections and fuses (even the small ones) and yh that relay click followed by nothing sounds like a no signal/no start protection. If the sensor checks out, try bumping the engine over manually to make sure it's not seized.
