KYB shocks - OEM or upgrade?

I purchased a secondhand 2008 rhino 700 FI a few weeks back. Im working on it and noticed it has KYB shocks on both the front and rear. They look like standard shocks and not remote reservoir types, the previous owner didn't mention any suspension mods anyway.

Does anyone know if KYB shocks are OEM for the model I bought, or are they likely aftermarket upgrades? Haven't found any definitive answer online. I just want to make sure while I do some check-up and maintenance on it.

They're likely aftermarket, KYB isn't usually stock on the 700 FI. Yamaha typically used their own or lower spec brands, in good shape then you have no worries

No, the rhino had kyb shocks, monotube ones, so they could be factory. With that said, if I'm not mistaken kyb had some monotube aftermarket replacements that fit the rhino, so it could be that as well

From what I found, KYB shocks were stock on the 2008 Rhino 700 FI. Since mine aren't the remote reservoir type, I'm leaning towards them being OEM

Me too! I got a used 2008 Rhino a while ago and saw KYBs on it. I thought they were upgrades at beginning. But after checking some old documents and forums, it seems KYB monotubes were sometimes standard on that year, depending on the model. If yours are in good shape and ride well, they're probably stock, which is fine.
