Recos and stories for new shocks

I'm in a bit of a pickle, and no not the kind that requires a winch (though I've been there too). I'm hunting for new shocks for my and stumbled into the wild west that is eBay. Now I'm torn between Bronco shocks and these mysterious monster branded ones that look like they were built by mad scientists with caffeine addictions. anyway, broncos seem decent and have some decent chatter online… but those monsters? they look like they could survive a meteor strike, but can they survive my cousin riding shotgun?
Open to advice, mockery, and shock horror stories.

I'd always go for Bronco over other brands when it comes to shocks. I know I havent had all cars to try and test but boy, I would say Ford parts are reliable as all heck. I had a Bronco once, the shocks are impeccable compared to a lot ive drove.

I have been down that rabbit hole, Broncos got street cred, but those monster ones? They might ride like a brick on potholes..have you checked how they hold up off-road with a load?

Agree with first commenter. Bronco shocks are already proven and tested through time by ,e and my family. Monster's might look cool but it could either be an overkill or pool quality. really depends on the brand. Cousin-proofing might require more than shocks tho LMAO.

let me start by saying whatever you do, get shocks from reputable brands, ones that have plenty of reviews. I knew a guy that found some shocks on Alibaba for dirt cheap and installed them on his Polaris. I'd rather be in a lion cage than in that deathtrap.

Bronco, elka or fox are always the safe choices because they're proven and good

What kind of riding do you mostly do? That would help decide between the known reliability of the Bronco shocks and the potential beastliness of the monsters. What are the specs on those monster shocks anyway?
